In a championship game for the ages the Knights rallied to overcome a 5-0 fourth inning deficit, eventually taking the lead in the top of the seventh at 7-6, but were unable to hold off the tireless bats of the Nassau Reds.
Substituting for the always jovial Knights reporter, who seems to be speechless, this reporter saw a tremendous game that ended in some managerial hesitancy. The Knights played their hearts out and in the end turned in their best season yet.
Offensive stars are lead by Hector Rolon, who came in to handle the fireballer Greg Holmes, and lead the team in RBIs with 4 going 2 for 2 with a double; Tommy Reilly, the never ending spark, started the Knights 7th inning rally with a monstrous triple to the deepest part of EAB park, Tom ended the day going 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored; Bobby Grutadauria knocked in the first 2 Knights' runs with a one out single in the fourth inning.
This game saw the Knights make too many mistakes which cost them the game and the championship, but next year they'll be no stopping us!!!
* There will be a team meeting on Tuesday, August 21 at 6pm at the Hooters in Islandia. We will be discussing our Cooperstown trip and the possibility of a fall season. Show up when you can!!
