A Late Inning Deficit Awakens the Slumbering Knights Offense

Trying to bounce back from a frustrating loss to the Tri-Village Giants, the Knights played the Long island Empire at Burns Park. Hector Rolon started the scoring by blasting his first homerun as a Knight. Bobby Molinaro added to the second inning lead by knocking in Billy Vogt who was waiting patiently at second after his first of 2 doubles. In the third inning the ping of Tommy Reilly's bat was echoed when the ball hit the light pole in centerfield, then Bobby Gruttadauria scored the fourth run for the Knights making the score 4-0.

Anyone who thought this may be a quick and easy vistory, and that may have been everyone, was in for a shock. The Empire came back with a fury when they score 3 in the fourth, held the Knights to 1 baserunner in the bottom of the inning, then scored another 3 in the fifth, giving them a 6-4 lead.

Unlike in the past, the Knight were not going to let a little adversity get them down. In the bottom of the fifth the Knights batted around exploding for 6 runs on 5 hits and a walk. The sixth and final inning, due to unknown time constraints, saw a confident Knights team put the Empire down 1-2-3, then score 4 more runs capped off by a base clearing 3 run triple by Bobby Molinaro.
