After the Knights took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a homerun by Frank Giglio, the Cardinals tied the game in the bottom of the inning then took the lead (2-1) in the third. John Bosch led off the fourth with a double and scored the tying run when Dan O'Shea singled him in. The fifth inning saw the Knights score 3 runs off a lead off double from Matt Eggert, an RBI single by Bobby Molinaro, a single and stolen base by Sean McGuire and a 2 RBI single from Tommy Reilly.
The 5-2 lead was enough for Knights pitcher Joe Lankford (6 innings pitched 3 earned runs), who allowed only 1 more run, then handed the game over to "acting closer" Matt Eggert (1 inning pitched 3 strike outs).
The next game for the Knights is on Wednesday May 15 against Division 1 rival the LI Blacksox (0-2-2 playing all their games so far against the LI Storm). Right now the Knights are in second palce in Division 1, but with only 3 Division 1 teams having played any games so far, every game is important.
* Jeff Gorsky returned after getting married and enjoying what seemed like a 2 month honeymoon in Disney. Congratulations!
* Anthony Chairamonte injured his knee playing basketball. Knights management is eagerly awaiting the doctor's report, but is optimistic about the results.
* Matt Eggert has played his last game as a Knight for the season. Matt leaves for Illinois to play independent ball in the Frontier League. Good Luck!
