Game Summary

Errors always seem to mean the demise of the Knights

What was billed to be a low scoring pitcher's duel, turned into a nightmare for the Knights. Knights pitching gave a valiant effort finding focus while the rest of the Knights seemed to have none. Starter Billy Vogt got out of a first inning bases loaded no out jam, then was dominant until the potent Black Sox bats were able to take advantage of some Knights errors. Jeff Gorsky, in relief, found himself surrounded by a downtrodden Knights defense who couldn't seem to get the job done.

Offensively, the Knights took a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Tommy Reilly took advantage of a Black Sox error, then stole second and scored on a Mike Urtnowski RBI double. The Knights extended their lead in the second when Dan O'Shea reached and took second on an error, stole third and scored on the overthrow. Once the Knights were down in the fourth, a brief comeback was begun by John Bosch who singled, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Bobby Gruttadauria RBI single. The final bright spot of the Knights offense was a lead-off solo homerun from Tommy Reilly in the sixth.
