Game Summary

Knights lose to Young Brewers!

After days of rain and expecting more rain on the horizon, Pete Alfano And Paxton Provitera spent a few hours in the middle of the day and another just before game time working Birchwood Park into playable conditions. Facing off against the Babylon Brewers, Tommy Reilly took the mound and the Knights went to work. The Brewers jumped on the scoreboard in the first off 2 well placed hits scoring 1 run and leaving 1 runner on base. The Knights struggled scoring hitting into 2 inning ending double plays through the first 2 innings. After 2 bad pitches in the third and sixth innings respectively, and some very timely hitting/walks, the Brewers scored every runner that was on base from the second through the sixth and the Knights found themselves down 7-1. The Knights attempted a comeback in every inning scoring 1 in the fourth, 1 in the sixth, and 2 in the seventh.

Tommy pitched well, but the young Brewer team was just too much on this day. The Knights had plenty of opportunities to score as they stranded 9 runners and popped up for 7 of the final 9 outs. On a positive note the Knights once again committed only 1 error.

* The expectant rain made the Knights forget how to score runs!

* When Paxton Provitera asked, "What's going on here?" Tommy Reilly replied, "It's obvious - I'm the cancer! When I pitch we lose. I'm no surgeon, but I wouldn't pitch me anymore!"
