Game Summary

Knights Prevail over Fog and Astros!

On one of the most dismal days ever, the New York Knights and the NY Astros took the field at Tanner Park on Sunday afternoon. Thick fog and constant light drizzle overshadowed the first game and caused a cancellation of the second game of the doubleheader.

In his first stint for the Knights, Matt Levy dominated the Astros allowing only 2 earned runs on 6 hits while throwing a complete game. Offensively the Knights faced a former teammate, Sean Agagnina. The Knights quickly took at 2 run lead in the first inning then extended the lead to 4-0 in the third and the Astros would never recover. Sean McGuire opened his season going 3 for 4 with 2 stolen bases, 2 RBIs and a run scored. Bobby Gruttadauria, Hector Rolon and Pete Alfano continued their hitting onslaught and Richie Cave joined in the fun all batting .500 for the day and scoring 6 of the 9 Knights runs. Mike Urtnowski rejoined the Knights as a VERY welcome addition and proceeded to knock the ball all around the field chipping into the offense with an RBI single late in the game.

As the full regular season begins, the Knights feel good coming off 3 wins and are looking forward to an intense and very FULL summer season.

* Welcome back to the Knights, Mike Urtnowski!!

* Beginning the season 3-0 looks good, but it looks even better upon closer inspection when you notice the 3 and 4 batters are batting a measly .143 with a combined 12 walks!!

* The Knights move into the main part of the season on Sunday May 18th when they play the Division 1 Farmingdale Mets followed by the Division 1 LI Cardinals!!
