Game Summary

Knights Leave Too Many On Base In Falling To The LI Cardinals!

In a rematch of last year's Division 2 Championship, the Knights and the Cardinals produced another terrific game. The Knights jumped out to a quick 3 run first inning lead when the Cardinal pitcher, Russ Rapp, had trouble finding the strike zone walking 3 in the inning. Behind the strong performance from Greg Holmes the Knights held the lead into the 4th when the Cardinals were able to take advantage of a lead off double and some wild pitches to tie the game at 3. The Knights regained the lead in the top of the sixth when Jordan Cox led off with a single and was bumped around the bases with Sean McGuire single and 2 walks. To the dismay of the Knights and their fans, the Cardinals were able to pull something out of the hat as they tied and won the game with 2 outs in the bottom of the seventh.

The story to this loss for the Knights was their inability to drive in base runners as they left eleven men on base through the game. This was most notable when they left the bases loaded in the first, fifth and sixth. The Knights plan to rebound by taking on the Nassau Mets this Saturday and then revisit the Cardinals the following weekend.
