Game Summary

Knights Split with Farmingdale Mets!

On the first beautiful, albeit chilly, Sunday of the season, the Knights took on league newcomers, the Farmingdale Mets. The first game was a great one through 4 innings with a tied score of 1-1. Matt Levy was dominant allowing only 1 earned run on 3 hits, unfortunately errors hurt the Knights putting them in a 4-1 hole after 5 innings. The bottom of the seventh was even worse with a 7-1 score, but the Knights tried to launch a comeback scoring 1 run and loading the bases before their luck ran out.

Game 2 was a different story. After only 5 hits in the first game; Hector Rolon continued his hitting going 2 for 2, Pete Alfano was still on base all the time going 1 for 2 with a walk, and Billy Vogt jumped right into the lineup going 1 for 1; the Knights exploded for 6 runs in the second and 4 runs in the third inning. Jordan Cox got his second win and his first hit as a Knight...a BOMB!!! After 5 strong innings, fatigue set in and Billy Vogt took the Tanner Park "mound" for the sixth inning. The mound gave both Billy and Mike Urtnowski some trouble finding the zone and the relentless Mets took advantage scoring 7 runs in the final two frames before Tommy Reilly finally came in and closed the door solidifying the Knights 11-10 win.

Offensively the Knights broke out in game 2. Mike Urtnowski led the charge with 2 homeruns (even though his front foot was on the infield grass) and a single going 3 for 4 and scoring 3 runs; Pete Alfano was on base all 4 times he stood at the plate with 2 singles, 2 walks 3 stolen bases and 2 runs; And Tommy Reilly began to show signs of life going 2 for 2 with 2 walks and an RBI.

Knights Knotes:
* Someone mentioned the Knights don't play fundamental baseball...we should change that!!

* Still no word from SWANK about a sponsorship, but so far the lucky porns have been working!!
